Just some thoughts about liberty messaging. It’s widely available and usually free. You can find pro-liberty commenters across the whole spectrum, from hardcore anarchists to relatively soft and cuddly pro-freedom voices.
Yet less than one person in a hundred actually is convinced.
Why?
If it’s a problem of government education, then we need to admit we’re missing some X factor that can cut through state indoctrination–if we don’t, we risk being seen as utopians.
But what if there’s another explanation?
Sure, we can point at misconceptions that a lot of people hold. But at the same time, a lot of liberty messaging is about getting rid of a lot of existing institutions, and a lot of people like at least some of their institutions.
Can we make a bigger impact by trying to explain how to convert coercive institutions into voluntary ones?
I make the case in the above video.
