Bad Theory and Willful Blindness

The Conquest of The Conquest of Bread, Ch. 13

Chapter 13 is titled “The Collectivist Wages System” and it is a tissue of faulty comparisons, bad conclusions stapled to obsolete theories, and nonsensical figures attached to shifting goalposts.

Kropotkin recognizes the flaws in the labor theory of value, but, despite major advances in value theory twenty years before publishing this book, he remains blissfully ignorant of the solutions provided by Menger, Jevons, and Walras.

Bad value theories aren’t so harmful when no imperatives or obligations are tied to them. However, when you start spouting moral imperatives, you’d better be darn sure your theory is right, or you’ll end up making the same mistakes Marx and Kropotkin made.
